Lately, a lot of Indian IT professionals have been moving back from the US. Around 12,700 returned between January and September 2026 alone, and this year could beat last year. Two reasons stand out: H-1B visas are getting harder, and over 110,000 tech jobs were cut worldwide this year. If you lose your job on H-1B, you only get 60 days to find a new sponsor, so many are just choosing to come home.
Most of them are also taking pay cuts of up to 50% to do this. So they're coming back with savings, but smaller salaries.
This got me thinking about Hyderabad. If many of these returning professionals settle here and start buying homes, what happens to the property market?
There also lies the fact that the majority would return to Hyderabad, given its the major IT HUB of India now, and as per my perspective, they would definitely be buying flats or apartments based on their family requirements and other needs, since all these professionals have enough saved to start a new life here, it wouldn't be wrong to say that Financial District and the areas around would be the most sought options for them, and the market would ultimately see a lot of investments again.
Given to this scenario, will more returning professionals push prices up further, or will all this unsold stock balance things out? What do you all think?
