Hyderabad
Jan 5, 2026
I’m on H-1B in the US, originally from Hyderabad. Work is going fine, but lately the whole visa situation just feels… constantly uncertain. New rules, stamping delays, politics. It’s not one big thing, but there's always some uncertainity in the background.
I’ve been thinking more seriously about long-term plans, whether that means continuing in the US, moving back to India at some point, or even buying a home in Hyderabad to have a stronger base.
Curious if others are feeling the same:
– Has the H-1B uncertainty changed how you think about staying in the US long term?
– Did anyone actually move back or buy property because of this?
– If you decided to stay, how are you mentally dealing with the uncertainty?
Just looking to hear real experiences. Not trying to start a political debate.
Honestly, Trump was the final push for me to move back. I didn’t want my life trajectory tied to election cycles.
H-1B uncertainty is bad, but Indian infra uncertainty is also real. You’re basically choosing your flavor of anxiety.
Just don’t rush into buying. Lots of NRIs overpay because of FOMO.
I relate to this so much! The worst part isn’t even the rules, it’s that they can change overnight and you’re just… stuck reacting.
I haven’t moved back yet, but I did buy a small 2BHK in Tellapur last year. Not because I’m 100% returning, but because I wanted an “option”. Rent it out for now, worst case I have a base if things go south here.
Mentally, having that backup significantly reduced my anxiety.
Haven’t moved back, but I did buy a flat in Hyderabad recently. Not sure if I’ll live in it, but having a base helps mentally.
Most of us are feeling this but don’t talk about it openly. So yeah, you’re definitely not alone.
